Ecuador and The Galapagos
I learned that language can connect me in a very intimate way with people who can show me a different perspective. I learned that being open to experiences makes life more full. I learned that forgetting about money, possessions or my image and just focusing on connections with people makes me feel more alive and makes my life more fulfilling.
Of all of my travels, this trip touched my heart the most. In no small measure, thanks to Susan! She mindfully created our time in beautiful Nicaragua that gave each of us the opportunity to have open hearted connections with a wide variety of people. Many opportunities to learn & share, give and receive from one another. My heart is full and ever so grateful.
You helped me learn so much about new cultures and jumping into new experiences, but I think I also learned a lot about myself too. You are so good at helping everyone process their emotions and new challenges we had, and I think that we all grew as a group and as individuals because of you!
I never felt like you were a teacher. You were learning and absorbing the culture along with us! I am so grateful I am learning another language. Before this trip I had never considered taking it past high school, but now I might take it further! My favorite part of the trip was the night in the campo with Juanita and Mauricio and their children because I was able to connect.
Susan, you were the best group leader I’m positive the world has ever seen. There is honestly not one thing that I feel you could have done differently. You were great at leading by example (you were so fun and caring and the way you interact with people is so inspiring), and you are an incredible listener. I love how well you listen to people.
I have learned SO MUCH from this experience. The number one thing would be a greater appreciation for the world around me, as well as the life I lead. The women living in the second poorest country in Latin America knew more about appreciation than anyone I know. Their gratitude for the little things in life made me re-evaluate and realize how lucky I am.
No matter what you do or how you feel, you are always going to have fun! The trip was amazing! Thank you for this once in a lifetime opportunity!
I look forward in the future to planning a trip with Away 2 Be to bring a group of women friends to Nicaragua.
The planning for the trip was thorough. Susan was able to answer all of the questions that came up. Her knowledge of the culture in Nicaragua made this trip meaningful to all of the members. Many tour groups have “packaged” programs but this trip was different. There were “check in” activities before, during and after the trip which led to involvement on a deeper level.
