Getting 'Unstuck'

It went something like this:

Husband: ‘Will you go on a date with me?’

Me: ‘Of course!’

‘Be ready at 2:30 on Sunday.’ (It was Wednesday).

...

Someone asked me the other day, ‘When do you feel most free?’

‘Traveling!’ was my immediate reply.

I’ve thought about it a lot - What is it about traveling that fills me up?

The simultaneous fast and slow pace of moving through the world.

Connecting with people in other cultures.

Connecting with myself.

Letting go of what doesn’t matter and holding on to what does.

I never feel ‘stuck’ when I am traveling, (and I’ve been in a lot of ‘sticky’ situations)!

So there we were on Sunday, strolling the art district with hot drinks in our hands (one of my favorite pleasures, courtesy of @wildflowerteashop) before a visit to the @huntermuseum.

My heart swelled and ached at the same time. The exhibit celebrated 100 years since the ratification of the 19th amendment allowing (white) women to vote. Being that our visit was just a few days after Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing, the exhibit took on a timely relevance and profundity.

We chose our favorites and analyzed the artists’ techniques and messages in each piece. Feeling soul-filled after our visit, I remembered one of my favorite sayings, ‘art is urban nature.’ The feeling I get from being on top of a mountain or deep in a river gorge is reminiscent of being surrounded by art or strolling the streets of Brooklyn.

Our date ended with Korean food in the park (thanks to @hanmi) and connecting with neighbors.

You know, it actually felt a lot like ‘traveling.’

Which brings me to you - What are the experiences in your life that fill you up, challenge you to shift perspective, allow you to be transported to another world? Where do you ‘go’ to feel inspired, full, engaged, connected, and free?

I help people figure out what allows them to feel ‘unstuck.’ By taking risks, making leaps, and slowing down, we can make changes to find FREEDOM in life and work.

Cheering for you!
